baby birds

You probably already know I have a bit of an obsession and fascination with birds (without the feeling of wanting to have one as a pet, though - been there done that - RIP Jack Bird, Wally, and Whitney). Even my header has some birds walkin' around on the beach.
I have blogged about birds before, here, but now I'm just adding to the fluttery madness....I know they can be dirty, and when I see a bird feather, I don't want my kids to touch it. But the IDEA of birds, and the BEAUTY of birds in flight, to me it's just fascinating.
When I see a group of birds in the sky or sitting on the powerlines, I think of the Forrest Gump line (said by cute little Jenny - or JENnay, as Forrest himself would say), "Dear God, make me a bird. So I could fly far. Far far away from here." That's sad, because it's at a sad part of the movie, but still cute because said by a little girl in a cute little southern accent, and that's how I say it in my head. I think I love birds simply because of why Jenny wanted to be one - they can fly. I've had dreams of being a bird, or birdlike.
But one way I truly am birdlike is that I have "baby birds" to feed, as my friend Andrea so lovingly puts it.
I'm not sure if my bird obsession will last for a long time, or fade out like my "I like Elvis" phase. Oh don't get me wrong, I LOVE Elvis Presley. I just didn't love how much ELVIS STUFF I was stuck with once anyone KNEW I loved Elvis. Reminds me of a friend of mine who got a certain little ceramic figurine several years back, and somehow the word got spread that she LOVED those ceramice figurines, and EVERYONE bought her the ceramic figurines for EVERY occasion, and to this day she can still predict what's coming in that little box for Christmas - you guessed it, a ceramic figurine...to add the other hundred she already has, that she never realllllllly passionately collected in the first place.
My velvet Elvis is nowhere to be found...I must have left it for some other college student. But I do have some other Elvis paraphernalia that I should probably hand off to some little 50s diner or something.
Okay, back to the birds.
I feel like EVERYWHERE I go lately, birds are poppin' up - on pillows, artwork, dishes, shirts, etc. So here are a few of the cute bird things I found that knock my socks off :
UncommonGoods (this catalog is sent to me and I LOVE IT! Such great stuff! If you haven't visited this site, go there...you'll love it!!!!)
and this one from stylehive.com
also from stylehive.com
I was at Mozart's in Redlands the other day and picked up three of these for myself. They're only $2.95 each and I had to have them - one to represent each of my baby birds:
I love how they each have a little "personality." When my kids show me a little attitude, I turn their bird around in a way to reflect their attitude. I haven't had to knock a bird over yet, or turn it completely around...I'm going to reserve those movements for reallllly bad days. :)

There's also this adorable short film:

I may NOT go this far.....

but I can see myself in this
(from Etsy.com)

and hello, who doesn't love a little bit of this:

This morning I looked over at the coffee machine, programmed to make my day at 5:30 a.m., and saw this:

My better half said he was at CoffeeBean with his friend and saw these two birds on the mug from across the room and knew I had to have them. What a lovebird.

A few more things I found on the internet that I loved:
 from design-milk.com

I do think this would look great in my kitchen:

and this would look great under my feet:

and on my windows:
(from thisnext.com)
And how cool is THIS idea:
decornextdoor_plates.jpg

or this:

from kaboodle.com (those are origami style paper cranes, by the way, the same as my cute new necklace from Hawaii that my better half bought me last month)

and one of my alltime faves I've found, because I'm a huge fan of the art, simplicity, and the balance of the MOBILE,
seriously...is that just adorable?
