A Trip to Disneyland

We had a really nice day at Disneyland last Thursday. We left right when the girls got out of school and we stayed until closing. Seriously, that's enough of a day at Disneyland. If you think about it, being there with LESS crowds meant we went on MORE rides, which meant MORE walking, so it's understandable that the day wiped us out, even though it was only about a half day! Since Alyssa's now 40 inches tall, she's got a license to ride just about ANYTHING now at Disneyland, so it was a new day for her! She rode Space Mountain, Star Tours, Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain all for the first time, and since Uncle Mikey came along with us for most of the day, he was able to take care of Jack while Bobby and I rode with the girls! It was so much fun. Having Michael around is always a bonus, too...plus it meant that later on in the evening, Ashly stopped by after work!!! Here are a few highlights!

Dana Point Dolphin Safari Trip

For our 7th anniversary (which was Sept. 9th) I surprised Bobby with a trip on a catamaran out on the ocean in search of dolphins and whales (dolphinsafari.com). It was fun - for me! Bobby didn't love it, he got sick (despite the dramamine I shoved down his throat an hour earlier when he still wasn't sure what we were doing). Anyway, here are a few pictures from the day. The day itself was beautiful, but some wind made for choppy seas and lots of movement on the boat - I loved that part. I could have stood on the bow of that boat for hours, but poor Bobby couldn't wait for it to end. The worst part, we only saw TWO dolphins - and one of those dolphins, as you'll see in the second and third picture, IS ATTACHED TO THE BOAT AND NOT EVEN REAL!!!!! But, on the sunny side, Bobby was the passenger who spotted the one and only dolphin we saw that day, a Risso/Rizzo dolphin that was a lone ranger. That in itself is weird for dolphins...to be alone? What a strange day at sea. Even the captain admitted it stunk and gave us free DVDs on local sealife.
Either way, I loved it - I got a ring out of it! I was sitting on the boat and playing with my wedding ring and joked and said "if I dropped this in the ocean, would you jump in and get it for me?" And Bobby said, "NO, but I'd replace it!" and he pulled a ring box out of his pocket and it had a beautiful white gold ring with lots of little diamonds all over it, plus seven diamonds down the middle (for seven yeras married, get it?). Very sweet....what a romantic boy I caught!

Notice all these little sailboats in front of us? It was a race with teens doing all the sailing - pretty funny, because the wind was so bad, at one point one of these boats was completely flipped and the kid had to be rescued. A few minutes later as we tried to pass them in the channel, one poor girl in a small boat was stuck right in front of our boat and couldn't get the wind to move her the right way....that dolphin on the front of our boat almost impaled her. Wow, that woulda been a picture...

The girls' first day of ballet/tap class!

I was blown away at how interested the girls were in their first ballet class. They had no clue what to expect. I took some video, in the first few seconds Alyssa is the first balerina in line at the top right of the page, with her cousin Annie next to her (the tallest in the class) and Sidney next. Later in the video, you'll notice it's Annie and Sidney who are making the most "waves" and Alyssa's usually near the teacher toward the top of the shot - she was being a good listener, hence her award at the end of class that read "top dancer of the day!" So cute...enjoy the movie I just made!! ">I
