That's what I have to call it sometimes - "famous animator park." Like last Friday when i was on the phone with my mom, explaining to her that I was picking up the girls early from school because we were going to Disneyland. Except I couldn't say Disneyland, because Jack was in the car with me, so I had to come up with some other creative way, and usually at that moment I'd use some german, but even if I went with something with MOUSE, german for mouse is maus, and it sounds exactly the same....can't do that one. One time I thought I'd be slick and say "haus of maus." Thankfully I caught that in my head before I said it.
For some reason Bobby and I love to torture our kids on the way to Disneyland - one time we told them we were going to the dentist, isn't that horrible? I promise they weren't scared of the dentist, we just knew it wasn't the MOST desirable place they'd want to be. THen we pulled up to Disneyland, and it was awesome. This time, we told them we had to run out to orange county to pick up a new vacuum for mom. This story worked because all I wanted for my birthday this year was a vacuum, ask anyone. No, I didn't get it, thanks for asking.
Anyway, so this time, we told the kids we had to pick up the vacuum. They totally bought it. We ate fast food on the way, which we ALWAYS do on the way to Disneyland, and still no clue. We were diverted AWAY from the normal parking spot to a different side of the park, and when we passed by the main entrance of Disneyland, just like out of a movie, a BUS was on the side of the car and they couldn't see the park. BUT the side of the bus was decorated with Disneyland stuff, so that KIND of gave it away, but I very meanly said "oh, I'm sorry, is it hard for you to be THIS close to Disneyland and not be able to go?" Then we turned into the new parking lot and they got it. Well, most of them. It wasn't until Jack was in line to get on the bus to the park that he finally said "oh I get it, we're going to Disneyland now?"
We headed straight for California Park, which is MY favorite and NO ONE ELSE in my family's favorite. They all whine and cry when we don't go into Disneyland. Well, not really whining and crying, or I'd turn around and go home. But close. But because of the Halloween fiasco going on right now at Disneyland, we headed to California park first and the girls both rode the California Screamin' roller coaster for the first time, since it had a 15 minute wait and that's the shortest I'd ever seen. I rode with Alyssa, and this was her SECOND time in her life going upside down on a ride. Bobby rode with Sidney, and it was her FIRST time! She conquered the upside-down! Whoohoo. That's a big deal around here. Bobby practices crazy ride training with our kids, so they've all been dragged onto Matterhorn before their 2nd birthdays (yes, truly - look it up, that ride has SUPER short height requirements) and other scary things...like the rocking ferris wheel cars on MIckey's Wheel of Fun or whatever they call it. The last two pics are of us riding in that rocking car on the ferris wheel.
So glad to have passes - life just isn't complete without them.
